Created in 1950, cerjo SA started in hairstyle business and quickly became a reliable supplier recognized for a number of professional products.
In the early 60s, when the BaByliss brand created by a parisian stylist from Montmartre district began to export its cutting-edge curling irons, cerjo SA became one of its first distributors. For almost 50 years the BaByliss brand has successfully grown in more than 60 countries, starting from the professional sector and later to the public market coverage.
Today BaByliss the brand is internationally recognized and a true leader of numerous markets in hair care industry (straightening, curling and hot air stylers) including Switzerland. At the same time the brand has won significant place in hair drying and hair clipping market sectors because of its innovative and exceptional quality products. There BaByliss holds leading positions in sales as well.
In the beginning of the 70s, cerjo SA developed another business area in sunglasses and readings industry emphasizing on optimal quality/price ratio. The success was immediate - cerjo has been the leader of sunglasses' mid-market for many years in Switzerland, most of its activities are carried out under cerjo’s brand.
In 2005, cerjo established a partnership with the Swiss Cancer League and developed a best quality sunglasses collection of more than 240 models under the slogan "cerjo, best look, best protection".
cerjo SA is able to offer a large range of sunglasses to every customer. Among more than 2000 different cerjo models either woman ormen, junior, senior, sportsman, traveller, everybody can find sunglasses of their choice. In 2008, cerjo SA sold more than 700’000 sunglasses and readings in Switzerland, the figure corresponding to more than 60% of the market in this segment. Today cerjo sunglasses are exported to a dozen of countries as a part of a long-term development strategy.
Since 1996, cerjo SA is managed by Membrez’ family. The CEO Didier Membrez and his staff of 50 employees committed to their missions are located in company's headquarters in Delémont, in the Jura mountains. Today cerjo SA is based on two well-established brands, BaByliss and cerjo, two businesses of comparable turnover.
